Substituting Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil in recipes

Over the past couple of years I have continued to hear people talk about the health benefits to using Olive Oil over other fats like butter and margarine. I got to try out this product thanks to BzzAgent. I love getting to try out new or different items that I am not typically purchasing or thinking about purchasing. I really like the thank BzzAgent on this one as it is a great product that I typically wouldn't buy as I have other brands of oil that I choose out of habit and from cooking with family members over the years.

Filipo Berio and BzzAgent are trying to get the consumer to try thinking about the health benefits of cooking with Olive oil instead of butter and margarine. The health benefits are not typically what I think about when I am choosing various items to cook with. I am thinking all about the taste of how something is going to turn out once the dish is prepared and I am sharing it with my family and/or friends.  The taste is always important to me and if I don't notice a substitution for something lower in fat or calories, that is how it should be. If I can taste a difference then I don't necessarily want to eat or drink the items. I am not a fan of the various sugar replacements as they typically change the taste of anything that is baked or cooked using them. I have never been a huge fan of the various diet sodas that use aspartame as I can taste that and I don't like it. I would rather just drink soda water that doesn't have any of the calories or chemicals in it to begin with. So when it comes to getting to try out new products that are encouraging new uses of products that I typically use to begin with it makes me really curious to see how well they will make different recipes.

The taste is like any other good Extra Virgin Olive Oil, there is nothing over powering or anything that tastes funny. It smells just like a good extra virgin olive oil should as well so there should be no problems in trying any of the recipes they have listed on their website. I can't wait to try the Filippo Berio Olive Oil Pound Cake recipe which you can see here. All of the recipes that I have looked at look so good and really have some interesting meal options that can help anyone that needs something new to cook for dinner.

I was really impressed with the chart above that is available to print/download on Filippo Berio's site here under the substitution chart tab. This chart is an easy way to substitute butter and margarine for olive oil. It doesn't necessarily have to be Filippo Berio's oil but I would recommend trying it out for yourself as it is a really nice olive oil.  Overall, this is a great olive oil to try out.
